South Conejos Gifted & Talented Summer Camp Fund
Students in the talent pool or identified as gifted at South Conejos are eligible for full or partial summer camp opportunities. Each year South Conejos will award up to one $500 scholarship for a high school talent pool or identified student; one $250 scholarship for a middle school talent pool or identified student; one $100 scholarship for an elementary talent pool or identified student for a summer camp.
Summer camps must be in the students talent area or contribute to their career/educational goals. The scholarship will help pay for admission costs. It is up to the parent to pay for transportation and housing. If a scholarship is left unused (for example: no student applies for the middle school scholarship), that amount may be used by another student at a different building level. Students may be asked to share what they learned from the camp upon return.
Please fill out the form below and submit to Madison Mansheim via email. Scholarship applications are due by the 1st of April every year.
At South Conejos we strive to provide challenging and experiential opportunities for our Gifted & Talented students that help foster our students to be well-rounded individuals. Programming is often tailored to our students’ individual needs. For more information on programming, please contact the district coordinator.
Destination Imagination (DI) uses open-ended problems and innovative 21st century skills to challenge students to work collaboratively in teams to create solutions and compete with students from all over the world! This past year we sent two teams to regionals and one team advanced to state competition.
Our district currently has two DI teams. There is an elementary team for grades 4th & 5th led by manager Cordelia Lujan; and one middle school team for students grades 6th through 8th led by managers Madison Mansheim & Sandra Archuleta. There is a selection process for picking teams. Please contact Madison Mansheim for more information.
